Putting pen to paper

Does anybody journal?

Do you journal daily?

Do you find that it helps you?

Is it something you'd recommend?

Did you find that it was hard to get started?

Did it/does it help you get "unstuck?"

What are the benefits?

Any draw backs?

  1. I do but not daily. I love it when I do and wonder why I allow the time pass between entries.

It allows me to more clearly understand how I feel. I can see patterns.

Most definitely recommend it as long as there is no self flagellation when it lacks consistency.

Yes, I felt self conscious and fake at first.

It helps me to identify stuck in the first place so I would say "Yes" to that.

Being raised in a family where many feelings were not allowed, writing allows me to get in touch with my feelings in a more meaningful way. I carry a feelings wheel and a picture of myself as a small child, a teenager and a young mom. I try to have compassion and understanding for the past.

The only drawback is the critical voice in my head when I skip time. I don't hear that much anymore but at first my critical parent was a real bitch.
